Interesting,as expected the loading times are slow,Im just interested to see how the games will handle it,bill there be skipping or chopping in the fmv's or random freezes in GTA vice city(Like it does with mechines with bad lasers)
Well they could have atleast made a GUI for i,it would have taken about 20 minutes in C++,or not even that.
although the PS2/TWO does not have usb 2.0, it should support a connection over usb 2.0. basically your games will play at 1.1 speed, but they'll install at 2.0 speed, or firewire if you have a dual type enclosure.Originally Posted by omegatron
There has been no mention of being able to use firewire or usb 2.0 with USBeXtreme.
what about being able to go online now that the network adapter wont be in use? have anybody heard anything about that
I remember reading that this "usbextreme" had only about 85% compatibility for CD based games and about 75% for DVD games. Isn't that less than hdloader/advance?
well lets assume that the ps2 acts like 99% of other usb devices, the external hard drive should work as a 1.1 drive when connected to it. when connected to a computer with usb 2.0 ports, it will act as a usb 2.0 drive.. or if you've got a dual type enclosure with firewire ports, it will act as a firewire drive.Originally Posted by Sleestak
i am in no waying trying to say that the ps2/TWO will use the external hdd as a usb 2.0 or firewire drive.
It seems it is using a single FAT32 partition and ISO images are saved as files. That might or might not be a good decision, but at least there ain't gonna be tens of megabytes lost because of APA partition size alignment to 128MB.Originally Posted by xiaNaix
However, install is really slow - about 1,5MB/s, whereas hdl_dump makes about 6-9MB/s when installing from the DVD-ROM drive.
You're making too many assumptions there. How the drive will act when connected to the PC and how their software is programmed are two different things. Sure, the PC may see the drive as being USB 2.0 or firewire compatible but, remember, it's not being formatted for standard PC use and you'll be reliant on their software to use it with your PS2.Originally Posted by jeex

Fat 32 is limeted to 4GB for single files(Correct me if Im wrong) so if you want to dump a DL(DVD9) game onto the hdd you have a big problem.
