i have no idea about this, because i havent connected my ps3 to internet since i dont wanna loose 3.41 lol...iam lil scared about updates :(...but the psx store looks cool.
you cant loose 3.41 any console have to ask for your permission to update its firemware, by being connected to the internet you can download patches and use the internet browser without any problems.
What a great way to install demo's etc. Just tried bomberman demo which worked perfectly.
One concern though - couldn't sony use this to their advantage somehow by silently swapping links to supposed demo with a firmware update or security fix that disables the jailbreak...or am I being too paranoid?
its not like it will automatically install the update. let's say it will be an eboot.bin running. like usual you will HAVE to ACCEPT the terms to update anyways. it will have to be a legit update for it to even run so unless they can magically change how the update looks and runs on our 3.41s, while keeping it so they get their legal mumbo jumbo out of the way, it will still have to make us physically press the x button to accept the terms and look at whats changing. also even before all of that it will have to unpack itself then flash to a different screen where it will show the version update.

Actually in the Terms and Conditions Sony make it very clear that they *can* update without permission from the end-user for "security" and other purposes.
doesn't mean it can be done legally (homebrew and the like is still largely a grey area in the law so we'll leave it up for speculation and without debate on my end). I have a feeling that clause is in there for the pirates stupid enough to use the same name on torrent sites (either as uploaders/leechers) as their PSN name, or those who are obviously playing pirated games while on PSN (when we still had access) they could push a silent forced update on the pirates, essentially bending them over and giving it to them royally, I don't think SCE(A/E/J) would ever actually enact their forced update clause. Only time will tell.

they started saying that in 3.01, and it means that if you're on version 3.01 and later they have the right to push the update for you till 3.15 (because the ToA for 3.21 changed for OtherOS-less) but if you're between 3.21 and 3.42 the firmware update can be pushed without your consent because the same ToA are noted and unchanged (their new scam)
They have sealed their ToA legal bullsit airtight, and they know that since most updates they have do not alter features and end-user abilities more than before, the Terms won't have to change and thus you already agreed to those specific Terms.
I'm no lawyer but I've spoken to my brother-in-law that has his barr's license and that's in so many words what he explained to me.
Sony are nasty, shiesty little ducks
Step by step guide:
1) Boot your PS3 in JB mode (you can DL in normal mode but not install the game)
2) Set up your internet connection
*From this point be carefull not to accept any firmware update, and to be sure turn off automatic updating
3) Start up your PS3 browser (and go to google to test if your connection is working)
4) Go to www.psxstore.com (and bookmark if you want, i made it my homepage)
5) Find your demo/app
6) Be sure to have a hard drive or USB plugged into your PS3
7) Press download
8) It will ask you where to download too, only option should be your USB
9) Download it
10) Go to "install pakage" (You know, the way you instal your managers or other homebrew)
It would be mighty dangerous for Sony to update without our consent. Couldn't it **** up the PS3 if someone doesn't know it's updating and turns it off?
this, however, I'm sure sony would just blow you off and give you a nice new ps3 with 3.5 and send you on your way.
