Teensy / Bumble Bee hybrid USB dev kit for $5 (USD)
"Not the final product"
The more the merrier I always say, a hardware developer over at maxconsole.net has announced today that he will be developing a cheap alternative to the now famous teensy ++ and AT90USB boards. The hardware designer claims that it will be a hybrid of the teensy board and bumble bee with all of the "junk" striped out of it. The goal is to make it cheap enough so that it can aid in ruining the Chinese pirate markets. At the moment there are no retailers involved and will be manufactured by ps2chiper. ps2chiper also made available the open source files for anyone that would like to make one on there own. Included is an image of what the pcb will look like.
ps2chiper states:

Please do not confuse this with any other projects. This one is probably the best design since it has two led's and is usb upgradeable for future use. We found a better design for our hardware
http://fletchtronics.net/bumble-b We will use this design and add two led's then everyone is all set for a 5 dollar solution.
An engineer from the Dingoo team claims that it is possible to use the respective piece of kit, and produce them for around $5 each.
UPDATE: (09/05/10 9:40 PM MST) - updated files to include a switch now.

Here is the updated files to include a reset switch. We can define the led's in the led.h file and I will fiddle with them when the samples are ready.
UPDATE: (09/11/10 3:50 PM MST) - Shipping and review dates.
