Sony's Official Statement Regarding PS3 Circumvention Devices and Pirated Software!

So, these players getting banned..

Are they only being notified via email?

Im on 3.55 Kmeaw, never gone online since 3.56 was released using any bypass methods, but machine is connected to my router and home network allowing me to update games etc, which I have done, even this evening.

Honestly, Im not sure if I would be bothered about an online ban??? I cant think of a time that I desperately wanted to get my arse kicked by some 7 year olds laughing at me through there mic lol..

My question is how would I know if my system was banned seeing as the original email address I registered with is long gone, no access to it any more?

Obviously I cant log into the store without a warning about a 3.56 update needed, and im not about to mess about bypassing to get online if I dont use it all that often..

Would just like to know if there is any other way of me knowing if my console is banned??


If there isnt.. oh well, I wont lose any sleep either way..

Yep I remember reading the same 40 pages a few years after my first Hitachi 360 firmwares got banned a few years ago!

Two major points!

#1 - if you been living under a rock and a 100% Sony fanboy and you had no clue the PS3 been hacked and you were still buying 70 to 90 dollars games you now been informed finally by the Sony God themselves they HAVE finally admitted to the 41 million PS3 owners they have lost and been HACKED 100%

#2 - for those that been just banned and those that just found our about hacks thanks to Sony their March sales figures have for sure doubled in light if the news!

it's true sony were smart for sure.. they waited for their sales to increase because they were aware of this for months!! buying a 2nd ps3= more sales for them and it has to be a legit one aswell.. arr they tried to decieve us lol.. but yeah we knew this day would come so it's not much of a loss

Leave the computer, sit down, chill, and wait a few hours. Come back then make your decision .......

After that long needed break here are your options.

1) Don't buy into the fears of Sony and keep homebrew, and whatever else you do.

I could really care less if they ban me from psn. Ever since i signed up for their service i have had to go buy psn points cards to purchase DLC because they won't take my mastercard. Ironically this is the same card i use for Xbox Live and everything else. I contacted sony customer service multiple times to try and resolve this issue. The customer service rep pretty much told me that there was'nt a fix for this issue and to go get another credit card. After trying to explain why i did'nt want to sign up for another credit card just for psn, the rep hung up on me. In conclusion SONY can eat a dick! They will never get another dollar out of me. Plus my next TV purchase will be from their friends at LG.

I got the email. I used the 3.55 geohot jailbreak method when it came out so I could install the FTP pkg, and get the PlayTV recordings that were over 4GB off my PS3 hard drive. I tried backing up a couple of my games because I was curious about hard drive loading performance.

About a week after I'd gotten the >4GB PlayTV recordings off my hard drive, I deleted the few installed pkgs I had, the backup tests of my games, and I upgraded to 3.56 when it was released. I'd done what I wanted, and I had no further interest in jailbreaking my PS3 or backing up my games.

So, unless there's something somewhere (maybe a small auto-generated file?) that I haven't deleted, (extremely unlikely), then I can only assume that they are deciding who has a jailbroken PS3 now based on information from weeks ago.

D'you guys think I'm at risk of being banned, even having deleted everything jailbreak-related weeks ago?

obviously ps3s upload even if your are not connected to psn or autosign in to psn,

best options were to block WAN traffic both ways via router..

I too have had this email and my friggin ps3 is running 3.56 OFW...If they ****in ban me this will be the last game system i buy from sony!!!!!!!!!!!!!They can stick it..I may even liquidize the damn thing and put it into a box and send it to them.. It actually says in the email to quote
A circumvention device and/or unauthorized or pirated software currently resides on your PlayStation(R)3 system.

I would like to know how I'm using one of these Circumvention devices on 3.56OFW...

If you are on 3.56 and you get banned, you need to go to their helpdesk. They said :

"To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems."

So if you're on 3.56 and you get banned, email them and they have no choice to let you back in, seeing as the publicly said that.
