I'm totally all for GeoHot winning, i mean he must for our sake, i just don't see the point of using that forum post though, what is SCEA ask for the details of the user and find out that the user isn't even from GeoHots location, perhaps they will think his lawyers are only grasping at straws.

Sony's ony grasping at straws too. Because *someone* with that nick *happened* to post about an unlocked cell phone for sale? Geohot's lawyers are just playing by the rules sony is using.

I'm no lawyer, but I took at as his representation preparing the necessary document for when the judge rules (note its lack of signature).

It's simple: If Sony expects a forum post to act as evidence, so can Geohot. Basically, common sense tells the judge that Sony's evidence is hearsay, at best, and inadmissible - otherwise, they have to accept BOTH sides' "evidence", which is contradictory.

Even a paid off judge won't risk letting that sort of thing snowball.

Sounds like Geohot's got some very competent legal people - far better than Sony's Keystone Kops act. That makes it tougher for a bought judge to continue the charade.

Oh, and just to add, I see it going one of two ways: If paid off, the judge will allow jurisdiction top change (too hot to handle), if not, it will be simply dismissed.

The errors on Sony's part in filing paperwork on time and their repeated violations of the most basic courtesies and obvious SLAPP maneuvering should rankle anybody on the bench. My belief is that Illston is well paid by Sony, otherwise it would have been dismissed weeks ago.

I'd bet on a change of venue to New Jersey, where Illston can wash her hands of the case and let them dismiss it.

Either way I see Sony goin down on this one... and maybe even a malicious prosecution counter-suit from geohot's end. Now wouldn't THAT be funny? Resources for him to exploit the PS4 and beyond paid by Sony...

And to everyone saying F*CK SONY, I'M BOYCOTTING! That's not totally necessary, after all, just support gamestop and the like - used systems sold doesn't help the manufacturer.

right now sony must be revolting from inside.
    just imagine this.
Jailbroken consoles to be able to go to psn legally thanks to sony and their bully/gestapo techniques.

and i mean it, allowed without restriction

wut?Jailbreaking ps3 might become legal, but it is also legal for Sony to prevent any jailbreak users from their service.

If Geohot wins this case that doesn't necessarily mean that jailbreaking the ps3 is legal, but it will make it impossible for Sony to bring anyone to court for doing certain things like Geohot has done, thus it will probably inspire many devs to continue work.
For jailbreaking the ps3 to become legal someone would have to file a case specifically for that purpose.
I'm not sure, maybe the judge can determine at the ruling that it's legal, but I don't think so.
