Sony Computer Entertainment America v. George Hotz
Sony has finally decided to play their poker hand today!
Their MIB (lawyers in black suits) have landed, and the target is of course Mr. George Hotz aka "geohot"!
Recently "Geohot" had published the PS3 'root key' on his website, along with various 'signing tools' and samples of possible ways to install and run 'homebrew'
It seems Sony has decided they have had enough of this, and as of Jan. 11, 2011 have filed a lawsuit against Mr. George Hotz, which will be filed under the court docket of 'C 11-00167 JCS'!
We here at PSX-SCENE will be bringing you exclusive daily reports and filings from the Sony's Men-In-Black court case, and unlike Apple it seems Sony will not allow Geohot to walk all over their product by "Jailbreaking" their PS3 Consoles!
UPDATE: Geohot has updated his website with two court papers, which you can also find attached here:

any legal fund donation things you see are 100% fake as of now, don't get scammed
The two early court files released by Geohot on his website, show that Sony is also going after the members of Team fail0verflow and are listed as named aka Bushing, Sven, Marcan as defendants!
UPDATE #2: My Wikileaks Fax machine just finished dumping the finished E-filings for today by Sony, with the official Court Stamp and Signings, and included now is what SCEA wants to claim in damages and their reasons, and dates of when the info was released by Team Fail0verflow and Geohot and various other info like sharing of work via twitter, posting youtube videos, etc.
This is horrible! I hope someone here who's either a lawyer or somewhat good at law can help represent (I know I would if I could, but I'm not a very good lawyer or a lawyer at that) him against such an atrocity..
God, I hope he doesn't end up in jail. What has he done wrong? He has not published any copyrighted code, and I bet he hasn't seen it - like they could prove that. This is ridiculous - Sony had shit security and now they're going after a guy who just liked doing something fun. I really, really hope Geohot wins this. He doesn't deserve jail-time, or a fine. Hell, he even made sure not to allow piracy with his CFW.
Doesn't matter if they flash the bright light. The important info is scattered all over the internet by now (and only gets more exposure > Streisand Effect)!
