Sony Giant Crabs makes Android Market its new battleground!

Well with the coming launch of Sony's first Playstation Phone called the Xperia Play to be released tomorrow!

Sony has called in their ever hungry for fresh meat their ever fateful Giant Enemy Crab's, and this time it is the Google Android Market that will be game for the kill!

Xperia wants to play here, go somewhere else

ZodTTD’s PlayStation emulator was unceremoniously yanked from the Android Market by Google today in a move the developer suspects is partly down to the launch of Sony Ericsson's Xperia Play 'PlayStation Phone'.

PSX4Droid had been available on the Market for almost half a year before it was removed due to, "content violation."

ZodTTD reveals on Twitter that he has been, "working like mad on a psx4droid update," and that Google’s action effectively spells the end of the program for existing customers of the emulator.

ZodTTD believes the takedown was influenced by Sony. "Sony's Xperia Play must be coming soon," he writes.

Despite this sudden takedown, rival emulator fpse remains up and running on the Android Market.

If Sony has indeed leaned on Google, then it’s possible this app will also disappear in the coming days.

It is going to be interesting battle

to watch as Geohot has already mentioned a few times he can't wait to get his hands on a Xperia Play and of course in the states were the current PS3 Jailbreak battle is underway, Jailbreaking Phones is LEGAL so how is Sony going to fight this one???

Ummm, didn't BOTH the Bleem and Connectix cases set precedent that PS1 emulators are legal?

I can't wait for them to argue that the phone isn't a phone-- it's a computer entertainment device and then have everything come full circle in the most hilarious of ways. Everything is connected.

They're legal, that doesn't mean Google HAS to allow them on the Android market.

Plus, I think if you do make an emulator, you're not allowed to contain the Bios... the user must get that themselves. Dunno if this emulator did that or not.

As pissed as I am for all that Sony's trying with the PS3 scene, I gotta hand it to them. They are determined to make just one more billion before their shoddy business practices and horrible customer relations makes the mainstream realize how much they suck...

Anyone wanna wager how long it takes before its rooted?

oh shyyt i just bought a xperia x10 i yesterday aswell im hearing sony is even pising the x10 scene off with no facking updates still on 2.1 and probly will be for a long time
