This news post is very misleading, and very wrong.
The second you pay for a product you enter a contract under the eyes of the law in North America. There is such a thing as consumer law and consumer rights, though companies like Sony would like you to think there is not. Your end of the contract is that you will pay for the product, that is where your obligation ends. The manufacturer on the other hand has warrenty issues, product safety issues, and many others that I am forgetting and not willing to look up. These terms are defined by your government in order for them to sell in your country. Imagine if there was no contract and no consumer rights or seller obligations. Remember when all the news were alerting the public to lead paint or some other hazardous material used in Chinese manufactured goods? The product recalls did not happen just because of bad PR or even the companies in question not wanting to posion children, it is because they are legally responsible as terms of the WTO. WTO means World Trade Organization. There is also the European Union version of this that believe it or not has a higher demand on the manufacturer than the WTO.

Perhaps someone who was going to buy a PS3 in a mall with a Sony Store (and from the Sony Store) will buy a 360 instead :P
Seriously tho, why is the slant on the news article saying it's a Sony win? They won because... they closed their store to avert the protest? The fact that Sony went through that trouble to acknowledge the potential threat certainly can't be indicative of victory.
In my eyes, Sony has given credence to the complaints, and they don't believe they can overturn the negatives which they are responsible for.
I'm glad somebody understands the origin of our news post bot. Some day Sy Borg may start posting too.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong
But Sony does not own these stores, are part private owned
When I worked for the service centre we was 49percent Sony and 51 private
Good luck with this tho, it's not fair what they are doing to free speech and the repair sector
