It's true... but somehow I've got this feeling that they don't have a choice anyway.
Sony's main concern is piracy but technically that's really not a big problem. Used games are just as bad as piracy and Sony makes no money on used games (they are working to change this but for so many years they have been making nothing off used games) so for every 1 pirate there is like 20 people who buy used games and guess what that 1 pirate if he is unable to pirate he will just buy the game used thus Sony didn't really accomplish anything by stopping piracy.
Game companies will probably not side with a console manufacturer that doesn't try hard to kill piracy... because it hurts their business (Microsoft may take good care of them instead....).
Think about it... Sony killed the modding of PSPs, even if the sales of the PSP console had gone up greatly since they were discovered to be modifiable.
