Some Target Stores Already Drop PS3 Price To $499

Kotaku has received reports from a number of readers that some Target retail stores have already instituted the $100 price drop on the PLAYSTATION 3, breaking the July 12 price break and selling the 60 GB model at the new, rumored price of $499. We confirmed with Target locations in Bend, Oregon and Beavercreek, Ohio that the stores are now selling the PS3 at the new lower price. However, when we phoned eight additional Targets in Los Angeles and West Hollywood, CA, Dayton, OH, Orlando, FL, and Littleton, CO, staffers reported back that the original $599 price tag was still in effect at those stores.
