Nice! Now, I need to convert some MPEG files over to the AVCHD format to play. Thanks for the post Gary!

Nice app, but it's more like a proof of concept
They main goal is here, that it's know possible to play movies from external devices, now we need .mkv support![]()
why not just play other files through external devices
? like xvid
why that file type?
just wondering what makes it special
can .mkv be converted to this without loosing quality
EDITED
i see now
Looks like a very good concept, and very useful for others, i may try this out.
But, i don't want to be jumping on the band wagon here, as this is possible, wouldn't getting .mkv support be possible? I think everyone basically wants .mkv support haha, but it is really useful and it would be awesome instead of converting them to a format for the PS3, like you have to do with the iPhone. To be honest i think we need some kind of a codec pack, but i'm not sure if that's even possible.![]()
I would go this far and say, that .mkv is the only movie format, which is important these days.
But i guess it's really difficult to implent .mkv support, because you have to implent this codec into your ps3.
mkv2vob? how long does it take to convert a movie to vob?
MKV2VOB always give me the same error,AVCHD with all transcoding codecs:
"Error transcoding video"
Anyone got a better program?
Edit: ok I got some mkv's to actually transcode but 480p videos still give me the error
Well, sounds nice.
So you convert the files, copy them to your usb harddrive and play them with this ps3 media player ?
Okay i just got a 32GB scandisk flash drive but its Fat32 so no files over 4gb limit if i format it to NTFS PS3 not going to read it.So how do i go pass this limit because most of my AVCHD are BD9....Thxs
Split them into 2 oder 3 parts?
Probably you won't even recognize the swith beetween the files.
Years ago, when we had to watch movies on CD using SVCD or VCD we had to swith the CD every hour...
