"sorry for a n00b question but if i have server running linux and there shared two drives by NFS(SMB) for my windows machines and linux WDTV player, can i see also those drives on showtime ? or i need to run special service on my server ? "
u can see media servers on there like ps3media server or if u have a NAS drive with a media server ability
are you using a HD tv? same thing happens with me. the reason is it has to do with the resolution of your video file. lets say your tv is 720p and the file your playing is 720x304 then showtime doesnt upscale it to full screen, it plays it just at the resolution the video is at, so thats why you get those black bars. if you play a true 1280x720 video then there are no black bars.

the ps3's internal video player always upscales.
I always try to build without 'package_finalize' (because I would rather support 3.41 than Geohot firmware) so check my site.

loving this homebrew!
To clarify, I don't (want to) stream my videos, I have them all on a fat32 ext UBDhdd. IMO the ps3 video player is great, too. The ps3 plays SD xvid/dixv/mpg just fine. I only had issues with it when playing HD stuff, mainly mkv's. So I used mkv2vob, like many of you do, to "convert" and split my huge mkv's. This was all great, until showtime came up.
Now see, showtime plays mkv's up to 1080p with various audio/subtitle tracks just fine. Using mkvtoolnix to split the mkv for fat32, if necessary.
For me the BIG bummer is, I have to switch between showtime and ps3 player now, because showtime can't play / hangs while playing those m2ts files by mkv2vob. So I basically had to split my video archive in "showtime"/"before showtime". I know there is a bug reported on his site (Showtime - Bug #480: m2ts video blocking - Home Theater System), but why isn't it fixed until now? ALOT of people used this tool, now none of those videos work anymore, this IS important to fix!
@quanganh8: About the black borders: Go to the settings menu of showtime and change the X and Y scan options until the UI fits the screen. This removed borders for me, even SD videos now play fullscreen without borders!
With the older versions videos playing through my network worked, but had alot of freezes or hiccups. (btw using ps3mediaserver everything works perfectly)
With the new version I see a buffer is added.. unless I just didnt see it before. So now the videos take a lot longer to load but the regular sd videos no longer have the small freezes anymore, which is great.
HOWEVER, now no HD video will play for me. I just get a black screen. Im assuming its trying to buffer and is just taking a REALLY long time, or its crashing it. I waited over 5min and it still didnt play.
I can backup and go into different menus but as soon as I try to go to a different media server, or pick a different movie it freezes. I think it may be waiting for the first video to still start. I can't shutdown the ps3 with the button on the remote, but I can hit the button on the system so I dont think it completely crashed on me.
