this to me says that you could trick the ps3 into thinking that for example...

CALL OF DUTY... the old version was hackable...(V1.0) until the update... so if we changed this to latest version it should allow to play without the need of the actual update...

    along with many other games

also after looking again... you can change the needed firmware version... so like the old psp you can play newer firmware games on older ps3 system... things are really looking up for ps3 scene
eh yea changin the version does work to a certain degree

but changing the firmware version will not just work like that for games

the only way i can think of it working is if you edit the sfo before you even launch the game

as once the system is told it needs to update the sfo will not matter anymore

as it will ask u forthe uppdate no matter what u do even if the eboot.bin is completely mising adn the game shouldnt run at all it will still ask for an update

means theupdates are controlled by something else

and not the task list as i deleted everytthing in there and when i made a new tasklist exactly the same as the old nithing changed.

so we need t o find out what ontrols the need to update outside of the sfo inorder to use this to play games out of version

So basically this doesn't do anything for the call, just changes how the information looks.

Ok, if I understand this correctly is that it's possible to play games which require higher firmwares (3.42, 3.5) on lower firmwares (3.41).

You would have to install the game onto your PS3 hard drive.
    NOT START IT!
Use FTP to get the SFO on your computer.
Change the SFO and upload it back to the PS3?

Doing this would bypass the initial check which tells the PS3 it needs to update to play that game?

    Seems simple enough.

Great app! just tried it on my Ubuntu install

but will it be possible one day to change the PSN ID of protected savegames?
I have a couple of saves on a friend's ps3 that I would like to transfer but can't because they are tied to his PSN ID (like Resident Evil 5)
