SCEA vs. Hotz: Judge Denies Sony's Request for Expedited Discovery

Hon. Susan Illston has denied Sony's request for expedited discovery. A hearing on SCEA’s Motion is now scheduled on March 11, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. As a result, Sony cannot send out any of the subpoenas mentioned in our previous article (Sony Expanding It's Case - Looking For All PS3 Hackers).

On Thursday, there will be a hearing on the Temporary Restraining Order (“TRO”) which was previously granted without a hearing.

If a hearing is not held by February 10, 2011, Mr. Hotz will be forced to surrender his storage devices to Plaintiff SCEA, and will continue to be restrained, without a hearing or consideration of the substance of the TRO Order. A hearing is also needed so that Mr. Hotz may limit the breadth and vagueness of the TRO.

As long as his lawyer shows up to court on the 10th, it's good news.

yes because it protects the other devs a bit longer

I hope he sticks it to sony, i really do, this man has only done us right, not just with the ps3, but with the iphone, i wish there was a way to help with his lawyer bills

this is very good news... this means people like kmeaw can release cfw and continue his work. correction: THIS FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!!!!!! i expect 3.56cfw soon, couple of hours lol

There is no reason to release CFW 3.56 yet.
All the games work on 3.55, homebrew works on 3.55... PSN isn't worth it. If you wanna play online - buy the game. It's only fair.

There prob won't be a cfw until 3.6 comes out.
