The utilities used to gather information at centralops.net use ASP and ASP.Net. There are some recent vulnerabilities in this stuff. Hope nothing bad happens to that site.
Thank god I dumped my PS3. Microsoft and Nintendo never acted THIS butthurt when their consoles got hacked. Sony can go choke on a bag of dicks.
If they were so good at finding people from the net, then why havent they been able to stop all the sites that have pirated games readily available for download?
They could put a big dent in the piracy biz if they focused their time, money and resources into that alone, instead of bothering with people who make devices that allow downloaded material to run.
If there was no downloads available, then those devices wouldnt be anything for them to be concerned with, as backup discs dont work, do they?

this whole sonyy thing is reminding me of mccarthyism
Sony is grasping at straws here. The thing is if Sony actually succeeds, then MS and Nintendo will follow. Microsoft's software has been pirated since their first windows release.
I never heard of anything like this before. I feel like updating the PS3 just so I can sell it. Their console is so boring we needed homebrew as an excuse to turn the damn thing on. Crappy third party ports, boring online.
Sony these guys are fixing your console, not hurting it.
actually, sony can go after the end users are well. if they bust the dealers, they have a list of customers. if its anything like the satellite hacking scene, they can send you a letter demanding 5 grand for example. if you dont pay up in time, they will take you to court and sue you for 100,000$. thats what happened to people buying satellite piracy equipment, and it didnt even have to be something major, even something like a smartcard programmer got you in trouble.People also posting files got busted. Sony seems to be pretty aggressive so i would be very careful.
Maybe, but they have to prove their claim against you and its easy enough to say you never received it if you personally didnt sign for any package that was delivered to your address. I've come home and found packages on my doorstep that werent even addressed to me or anyone who lives here. It was simply dropped off by the carrier.
I doubt the 'end users' have anything to worry about, since Sony is more concerned at "cutting off the chickens head" and not so concerned about the rest of the body.

It's Sony lawyers that are baying for blood they get paid enough $$ to want to please $ony the better the result the more $$$$$$$
