This is bull and 56kers should be banned from playing socom online. The game needs lots of speed to be able to play and 56kers ruin the fun for everyone else which makes it kinda like cheating. It doesnt matter anyways becasue their going to update it to show each persons ping in each room so admins can set it up to autoban anyone with a 150+ ping. If you want to play online get high speed! if you cant get it well too bad you dont play online!! thats one thing I like about the xbox

56k lagsters –

Man all you fellas with broadband just crack me up. I myself have 56k and I play all kinds of online games on my pc with out any lag (Deltaforce, Army Ops the free usarmy game, and others) I use RW while playing so I think alot of it is your ISP that causes you lag A0L dialup you will LAG period. I use a diff service AT&& and when I am online my latency is like 125 up to 180. If I could get broadband I darn sure would have it. I check weekly all the time. Please you broadband folks quit crying about it. If I want to play online I will PERIOD. If it lags while I am playing I AM SMART ENOUGH TO LEAVE how can I enjoy all the lag. That is just my opinion.

you know what i think? 56kers SHOULD BE BANNED FROM SOCOM ONLINE,
there is a simple reason for this, WHAT DOES IT SAY ON THE BOTTOM/BACK OF THE BOX? BROADBAND ONLY and there is a reason for that too, and that is high speed is needed to play this game and 56k WASNT MADE FOR IT. this TOTALLY ruins the experiences of others WHO PAY 50 dollars for the game, 40 dollars for the network adapter and 40-50 EACH MONTH for the internet service alone. that is a lot of money and personally (i know most of you who have broadband and have the ps2 online setup would agree) id like to enjoy what ive worked so hard and paid so much for, not to have my experience ruined by some shithead that decided to play a game he wasnt meant to play.
oh yeah lets not forget people from OTHER COUNTRIES than the US, they pay MORE, possibly DOUBLE then we do, and they end up getting screwed too because some handful of idiots decide to CHEAT the system. i really hope sony will make an interface where you have to have a certain amount of latency to play. where it checks the connection speed or something like that.
thats right ****ers, that means stay the **** out of our servers, lagging pieces of shit. once, i was a 56ker too BUT i knew my limits and played games where 56k was designed to run smoothly. (like starcraft, with broadband hosts of course) some of you may know the horror of playing FPS game like Quake 3 or Unreal through 56k, VS a broadband player, the broadband player clearly wins

hey I worked hard to buy it all to and I want to enjoy it online just the same as you
We are not cheating the system, get somthing other than AOL and you will be fine. People from other countires play in their countries servers so no matter what I do in US East 5 it does not affect Spain or China. And I say again I lag less than a lot of people I see.
And cursing just shows your intellegence so go you.
Come on and Play with me and judge for yourself.

No need for hub that costs 50$, crossed RJ45 cable (Ethernet) can be used to connect the PS2 to the NIC on your PC.
Anyhow, here in Israel unlimited broadband connection costs only 25$ per month, so I think I will continue using my 1000 Kbit/sec cable connection |8)

OK, first of, i think about everybody here "was a 56ker once" so thats no argument.
And second, anybody who thinks that 56K means: lag, and broadband means: no lag, clearly doesn't know what he's talking about and shouldn't just start hammering on the 56kers, because it's a little more complicated than that.
Because lag means dat it takes long for a player to respond. But your signal, be it 56K or broadband, go's at the same speed (3.000.000 m/s i think it is) so in theory should reach te server just as fast. A year ago there where broadband connections that where fast but had a delay, so you could download at 100Kb/s but would have a hi ping, so you couldn't play online really well.
The problem come's when a game needs to send much data to work correctly. If a game needs to send 25Kb of player positions movements and other data per second, a 56Ker can't keep up, it take's his modem more than 3 seconds and this will slow the game down makeing it unplayable.
So 56Kers should be kept out of these game's. But when a game only needs to send small amounts of data you can't even tell the difference between broadband en 56K, like Mr. Sasavicz is trying to tell us.
So i think it's up to the programmers of a game to make a system that will keep out laggers without slowing the game down. So if you have a hi ping, bang! you'r gone, kicked of the server.
Printing: Broadband only, on a game is the easy way out for a programmer i think.
O, and cheaters should be kicked out of a game as hard as possible
P.s. i have a broadband connection, but was a 56Ker once

Ahh, but Madden doesn't say broadband only on the back of the box... As for Cbe, I think you make extemly Valid points... So If I play small 2 man locked games I'll be out of lag hell. 56kers don't play in the huge games and lag is gone..
