The Codejunkies forums have been dead for over 6 months now (or there abouts) and are unlikely to return soon. I'd like to see them return so I can continuing insisting they fix the error with GTA3 and Vice City

The Xport/Sharkport cannot transfer GTA3 and GTA:VC saves back to the PS2 correctly, it's filling in a template and the GTA save headers don't match this template hence you get corrupted saves
I found out about it from the guy who programmed the Memory Station software as that suffered the same problem but he fixed it as soon as he was informed. With the info he passed on I told Datel what the problem was, they had a word with one of the software engineers who said it was fixable (I'd always maintained that anyway) and that an update would be issued soon(ish) Cue however long it's been and GTA:VC is now out, suffers the same problem, and you cannot get a responce from Datel regarding this fixable error......

It really pisses me off as I backed up my GTA3 save with my Xport before I got my EMS adapter so I now have to write an xps2psu program just so I can play my GTA3 save, it'd be faster and easier to start again lol

    [edit]

It's worth mentioning that some people claim that GTA3 & GTA:VC work with the Xport/Sharkport. I have never got one of the saves these people have sent me to work and therefore still insist that the current Xport/Sharkport software is incompatable. The incompatability is even mentioned on the official sites FAQ, so don't take needless risks with your GTA saves, back them up with the EMS adapter or the Memory station

Thats good to know as I got a sharkport awhile back, I have 2 memory cards but 1 still has space so I haven't really used the SP for saves yet (except a couple downloaded saves), so basically if I uploaded a GTA save to my pc and then downloaded it back to the card it may be corrupted? Any other games with the flaw? Also since you know alot about the saves, have you heard anything about memory cards being corrupted by GTA VC saves, saw a couple of posts where other game saves supposedly got corrupted after saving GTAVC saves not sure if it was when they saved with cheats or not but they do have that warning.

You cannot even overwrite an existing GTA3 or GTA:VC save, as soon as you send it back to the card it corrupts. It's kind of like sending back a rectangle shape when the slot is a square, it's similar but will not work.

I've not had my card corrupt when I've been testing the GTA:VC saves sent to me and when the GTA3 flaw was discovered no one I talked to had any problems with it corrupting cards so I imagine it's just people getting the wrong end of the stick or messing something up themselves. I'm not guaranteeing that tho, after all it's possable in theory. Anyway, don't play with GTA saves and Sharkport/Xport until a software update is issued

As far as I know GTA3 and GTA:VC are now the only incompatable saves, issues with other saves (Rayman for example) seem to have been addressed with the introduction of the V2 software
