pkg files un firmware
pkg files un firmware –
I believe this is the one fatal wall being approached by adding a backup manager to the firmware. Since you can't resign a pkg file that's within the update_files.tar your unable to add a backup manager program. geohot showed a video where he added an unsigned pkg file to the .tar and was able to repack it all. That pkg file worked within the signed ps3update.pup because the ps3 os overlooks signed and unsigned file folders. It will let you add folders in any firmware for the ps3 wither its packed into the firmware or not (i wont go into more details on that because it would take to long to type out and explain) It then showed up on the xmb on the ps3 as the file folder that reads package install. he had to run the usb drive program that he pluged in because it was a program that could not work unsigned repacked into the .tar file. Once we are able to resign a pkg file or find the work-around on running an unsigned pkg file in signed firmware the sky will be the limit on anything you want to do. This is the problem being faced running home brew you cant run it with out being able to resign a pkg file or finding a work-around and if you do that you automatically are able to run backup managers and yes the unfortunate piracy would start.. That is why it is all taking some time to see home brew. When you open the flood gate to just let out a fish you will always get water. Hence you cant get homebrew without piracy. Its not a "will sony sue me" its a moral issue. for the hackers and creators working on this problem right now. ........maybe I'm wrong....
i dont give a shit about backup manger or running unsigned apps

I had a look into this but don't get why nobody has made an encrypter yet? Wouldn't this make Geohot's firmware obsolete?
what did you use ?!!? i still do not understand ^^

geohot jb cfw 3.55 release moral dilemma
I wonder whether Mathiewh payed 1000$+ (avaik version with cell support costs over 9000$) for his copy of IDA, or did he, cough, pirate it?
Same goes for other great "anti-piracy" hackers.
