shuffle2 has successfully ported the original PSGroove payload to Rockbox. Rockbox is an Open Source replacement firmware for MP3 players.

Of the rockbox compatible MP3 players, shuffle2 has tested this on a 5th generation ipod video. He states it will work on all PP502x based targets. Currently it is using the original psgroove payload, without any extra features. However, he has plans to integrate some of the better psgroove payload revisions. When asked which other devices were compatible, he stated: “theoretically anything that rockbox supports (but people with the devices would need to do some simple patches first)”

That's just ****ing amazing! Luckily for me I can't get rid of anything that may have a use (looking at my 1st & 2nd gen nano's). 1st gen ipod nano's can be picked up for like $20 on craigslist.

Edit: Just watched the video and read all of the instructions. Hopefully it gets ported to other Ipods (like mine) soon.

I managed to add "PSGroove" to the boot menu, and leaving the RockBox fully working.
I just added this line to the "loader.cfg":
    Code:
    PSGroove @ (hd0,1)/PSGroove/rockbox.ipod
And created a folder named "PSGroove" and placed there the "RockBox.ipod".

I Also I created some patches, that I need you to test:

iPod Nano 1G port with BM support:

Yes, you just need to patch the PSGroove file to run with your iPod. Don't ask me how. I have no clue. I'm waiting for someone to patch the file for the iPod Nano 1G.

You won't ruin your iPod... You can simply uninstall RockBox by running the bootloader and instead of pressing "i" to install press "u" to uninstall. BAM! Everyting is back to normal
