It's unlikely they'd put such a limitation on their own factory service systems, it was never intended for public use.

Maybe it works with a unique key that is generated.

You can downgrade several time, but each time, you need to generate a unique key once again.

It's unlikely they'd put such a limitation on their own factory service systems, it was never intended for public use.

I don't think sony service company spend their day downgrading PS3s... It's certainly used only in some major cases (in most cases it's the contrary,: they receive the PS3, repair it and upgrade it to latest fw).
