You people make me sad.
This was explained once, but since nobody reads anything here, I'll say it again:
This account was created to illustrate a point back when Geohot's lawsuit kicked off. I was unaware I couldn't have multiple accounts on this computer, and since it's impossible for me to delete it, I'm stuck with the name.
As for trolling, I've helped numerous people with their problems back when multiMan first started working on CFW 3.55. Other than that, I lurk 99% of the time and post only when I can (or at least, think I can) contribute something worth knowing; ie, this crap. My post approving this message was meant to be a joke.
Now, back on-topic: will this program erase my HDD? Will I lose all my saved games??
Oh, that's right... the vast majority of the people here have lost their sense of humor.
"You may not use, make, or distribute unauthorized software or hardware, including Non-Licensed Peripherals, in conjunction with Sony Online Services..."
"You may not attempt to hack or reverse engineer any code or equipment in connection with Sony Online Services."
Please add complete media center functionalities in the modified firmware, abilities to play all sorts of audio/video formats like MKV and others. A nice way to browse the media collection like Network Media Jukebox.
A torrent / rapidshare/ file host downloader would also be a nice addition to it.
and while there at it how about a way to play 360 games? and a coffee maker

Would be great if they could get rid of the Cinavia audio stream copy protection in the current firmwares, that causes movies to mute audio or stop playback on movies that have this protection. (Salt, Takers, Kung Fu Kid etc.)
Yes indeed, but they don't see it that way. I, and I'm sure everyone on this forum does the same thing, intentionally buy hardware BECAUSE it can be hacked. I like customizing my electronic gadgetry. The manufacturer never sets things up exactly like I want it because it is impossible to anticipate every user's needs or wants. I bought my PS3 because it had Linux (MAME, and a backup Linux box), and could potentially become an awesome media server, a la XBMC. Then the greedy bastards took that away. Now I play backups of games I own so I can mod them (Fallout 4, Dragon Age), just like people do on the PC. Plus, it keeps my $60 game discs out of harm's way. I'm not breaking any laws or cheating or doing anything wrong. I have backups of every package and upgrade I've downloaded from PSN, so if I ever need to wipe the hard drive, I don't have to download everything again. The package installer makes this possible. Soon, we'll be able to customize our XMB (like, removing the unremovable Netflix icon I don't need and can't use), and many other aspects of the device. I just happen to think that if I buy something, it's mine. I don't need permission from any manufacturer to use it however I wish. They need to stop punishing modders for improving their device FOR FREE, and thus enhancing its sales. If they could bring themselves to embrace the jailbreaking movement, as Apple has done, think how many more units they would sell as opposed to the XBox. It's sheer corporate stupidity is what it is.

....and though its not 'entirely' only to do with this thread and not directed at anyone but i would like to take this chance while typing to give a big thumbs up to everyone involved in the scene in general, every little thing that some people just take for granted has taken these guys some serious effort and long nights and sometimes they get nothing but grief cos someone was too eager to whack it onto their gear even when devs have said that 'its not quite fully tested' or what not - you wouldnt eat half a cookie from a shop and then bitch at them even though they gave it to you for free
give these guys a break and once in a while thank them for their extremely hard work and expertise
and dont forget people, we're getting free cookies
its not piracy if you dont own a sword or a parrot
Please, someone post a tutorial on how to compile and use it.
