If only we could decrypt the firmware than we could see whats the difference with the psgroove. I bet there isnt any, but i think they add something to that code that makes the ps3key go into bootloader after several inserts in the usb slot. Or something.

Weird actually, cause i thought the bootloader allowed you to update the chip via usb, then how could it that psgroove removes the ability to put the chip in update mode? PSGroove flashes only to the memory of the chip right? Please correct me if i am wrong.

PS3Key updates are no serial number specific. So you can download it from anywhere and it will still load. However, I suggest downloading directly from PS3Key's website so you know that the files arent tampered with.

Sixaxis port is completed and there is a video proof. You can still use youre controller like always but you have the ability to jailbreak using the usb kabel. So i think i dont need anymore updates for the ps3key cause i will definitley use my sixaxis.

And btw, it is a port of psgroove and its updateble via the pc

I am having a problem with updating my key. I get both lights when I plug it in 4 times and the program see's the hey. When I open the file and press update the progress bar pops up and nothing happens. The program does not freeze. It just sits there with the bar not moving. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance

    update:

I just tryed to update on my wifes computer and it worked. Why would it not update the chip on my computer but on heres? wierd

    I had the same problem.

This is what I wrote in my review...

"* Since my computer is running Windows Vista, for some reason, it didnt want to install the updated file. The progress bar didnt do anything. But I decided to right click and choose PROPERTIES on the application itself (.exe) and change the compatibility to "Windows XP Service Pack 2". This is when the program would actually load the file. It may not be required but if you can't get it to load the new file, this is an option."

yeah it load this way it was said on many forum too.
win xp mode allow the update to be fine.

I just don't want to update since this doesn"t add anything really usefull for now.
Why updating when you bring yourself more incompatibilities...
I want to backup more games of mine and make them work (Eternal sonata) and this update doesn"t help at all

Sorry if this is a little off topic...
If these are the guys who supply the atmega32U2 usb key(and it looks identical except that ps3 key isn't written on the atmega, then there's no problem with reflashing psgroove. It too has to be inserted into the usb to go to flashing mode... I can load the PSkey hex onto the atmega and as long as theres a backup manager installed on the PS3 can use it. I just can't seem to install any .pkg files...

    Cheers...

PS3Key do not supply atmega32u2 usb key. The only thing they also make is AVRKey.

Go here and read - http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67397 (Better understanding between PS3Key and AVRKey)
