PS3ITA CFW v3.55 Released: Allows Full PSN Access!

A smart group of forum users over at PS3ITA have released a new CFW for the v3.55 PS3 Console owners, that allows for full PSN Access!

We were waiting for new developments about online game on custom firmware (see kmeaw, geohot and others) when one of the brightest minds of our team has produced what we might call, the fastest possible access for the PSN.

The firmware is based on Kmeaw’s custom firmware, to which were added 2 small patches which allow access to the PSN!

Access is fast,no PC is needed to serve as a ” bridge “and then programs like ****Psn or charles, skipping the check of the model (debug, retail, reftool, etc.) and setting of the PS3 fw at 3:56 .. (not in the XMB)

Of course the risk of BAN is still high and being a CFW, ps3ita assumes no responsibility for any brick during installation.

Remember installing a CFW is totally at your own end-user risk, and you must take full responsibility for your own actions, plus clearly understand that Sony has the full right and legal terms and means to BAN your PS3 console and/or PSN account from any online access at anytime!

The firmware is based on that of Kmeaw, but have added two small patches that allow access to the PSN!
Access is not immediate need any PC to serve as a "broker" and programs like charles ****Psn or do not serve
The PS3 is "set" to believe the PSN have the firmware installed 3:56.

I state that the risk remains and I will BAN PS3ita We assume no responsibility!
It's up to you to decide whether or not to make use of the PSN and to install CFW with the following risks that entails!
INSTALLATION

1) Unless you have not already done so, download and flash the firmware on your PS3 3:55 ORIGINAL SONY Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

2) Download the patch to create the CFW PS3ita (patch.diff): Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

3) Now it's time to patch the firmware 3:55 ORIGINAL SONY.
Is easy to apply, download the following program (CFWPatcher_Installer.exe): Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

Install and run it.

Click File on the second button as marked in the image below and select the firmware you downloaded 3:55 ORIGINAL Sony 1 in the guide

Now click the third button on the File and select the folder where you want to save the CFW that will be created

Finally on the fourth button press File, select the patch (patch.diff) and click Execute

4) Wait for the program to finish creating your beautiful custom firmware

5) Once the CFW verified that all worked out by comparing the hash:

- Download the following program: http://getmd5checker.com/download/latest/Md5Checker.zip
- Run the program (you have to extract it from zip), click on the Add button and select the CFW.

Wait a moment, and under "Current MD5" will be a number, and check segnatevelo is identical to this: c82e3d857775c460a804f08b4cb33940 (you do not take into account whether the letters are case-sensitive)
If the number matches means that your PUP is "healthy"!

6) We go to the PS3, plug the USB device and with the standard method of installing the CFW-PS3ita.

6b) If you say that you have already upgraded to the latest software we need to go into RECOVERY MODE

Here is the procedure for access:

- Put the PS3 in standby (red LED)
- Hold down the power button: the system will turn on and turn off at the third beep
- Once off the PS3, hold down the power button again, you will hear 2 beeps and beeps twice
- At this point you will be prompted to connect the controller to the USB port
- Press the PS
- If you present a menu with the following options:

• Restart System: Please restart the PlayStation 3.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings to default
• Restore File System: Check any system files corrupted or missing.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS PLAYSTATION 3.
• Restore PS3 System: reset: erase everything and start again from the factory defaults.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION 3 firmware with a user-supplied

This is highlighted in red is the option for you, put the USB and install the CFW-PS3ita.

Why would anyone trust this CFW right now?

If I was home I would take it apart and check it for differences against kmeaw...

I checked out the forum, and the forum itself seems legit, although I've never heard of it. Since the firmware obviously has custom certificates I'm not going anywhere near it, and I recommend other people to stay away as well.
It's a lot safer to install the certificates yourself and be aware of exactly what you're installing, than to use ones that, as well all know, can steal your account info.

It's Rancid (o), he's the one that ported FREEFLASH to work with 3.55 CFW so the CFW is probably alright but it doesn't seem to be anything we haven't got already with Kmeaw 3.55, Rebug 3.56 spoof, F*ckPSN v0.6. I think I'll wait for now!

Hmm, I didn't see the username of who posted it. So I guess it'd be fairly safe to safe he's not trying to scam anyone.
Well, I was analysing differences but now that I know the poster, I cbf.
Here's md5 comparisons of some of the differences between Kmeaw and Rancid(o) CFW.
KMEAW $ openssl dgst -md5 ./* MD5(./license.xml)= a2db29b67334b1439c
As you can see lv1 and lv2 are different, we know Kmeaw's is safe, so I'm definitely sticking with that for now, there's no reason to change.
Like I said, I stopped analysing when I saw who the poster was, but I noticed that the versions on those other files were changed to 3.56, so I assume it's 3.56 spoofed.

So if we install this, will we need new home-brew apps? is it built on Waninkoko or Kmeaw? I recall one or two of my home-brew apps not working when i switched from Waninkoko to Kmeaw and I really don't want to go thru and install new programs….It would be nice using a CFW that allows for PSN access w/o F***PSN since I am a Mac user and switching to Windows sucks (Parallels is too slow to run Windows in the background all the time, it bogs down too much RAM)…I can't get the F***PSN for Mac since I am on Lion and Xcode is for Snow Leopard and MacPorts refuses to run on Lion
