just checked ps3yes.com .. auto update on their firmware, short the pad if flashed with psgroove
I have two of the white packaged ones, of course I bought on release date and paid 49 dollars each. 3 Days later they were 25 dollars each from same supplier. Was pissed off until I saw this thread.
I am so confused now. So the official PS3 Break website is now saying that the PIC versions are the REAL deal, and the other chips are FAKE...
So are they 'upgradable' or not? Because I think I tend to believe the users in this forum, rather than the distributor.
"pink" version of PS3break you have a PIC micro controller with a FAKE upgrade button and it can't be upgraded (yet or not) as easy as ATMEL's version, probably needs soldering work. Bottom line: you can't update your PIC at the moment, no matter what resellers or manufacturer are saying!

Anyone received theirs yet?
The original PS Jailbreak was selling over $100. I have ordered that. But, before I could receive it, other chips PS3 Key, PS Groove, PS3 Break came out and there is PS3Yes now.
I do have my chip now (not the original one). Waiting so long, I don't care what it is, I just want a working chip.
I got 6 units of this one straight from the break team and confirmed that they indeed use PIC microcontroller. Upgrade button doesn't do anything when connected by PC.
But do you really need the upgrade button? I believe the hackers out there will no longer look for any more exploit from USB and might be focusing their attention on Custom Firmware instead. I think that's the way to go and the v1 jailbreak will give way for this to happen. I think the upgrade button is useless since Sony will just patch it on the next update.
Custom firmware needs PSGroove 1.1 which utilizes SYS and POKE calls. PICs don't PS Groove 1.1 --well i don't think so anyway, I don't even know what they are loaded with.
