PS3: Sony Launchs PSN+ with v3.40 firmware!

Yet again, we get another PS3 firmware update. (Sorry Other OS is still gone!) -- But we get the new PSN+ (the monthly paid version of the Playstation Store system), plus some other features. -- The PS3 updates to v3.40 now, and the PSP updates to v6.30 also. -- Here is a list of other new features:

PlayStation Plus

PlayStation Network users will be able to purchase membership to PlayStation Plus; a new subscription service on the PlayStation Network that provides you with new options to expand and enhance your gaming experience and enable you to gain an exclusive set of features and content. Friendly reminder, all of you PlayStation Network users will continue to have free access to PlayStation Network’s unmatched and expanding suite of new and exclusive features while PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to an exclusive and expanding set of gaming features, content and functionality.

Photo Gallery

A new network based photo sharing feature is now available on the Photo Gallery. The enhancement allows you to upload, browse and comment on photos on Facebook and Picasa Web Album. You can also opt to share your photos between your PlayStation Network friends as well as print photos from Photo Gallery.

Video Editor & Uploader

Video Editor and Uploader is a new function found on the XrossMediaBar (XMB), which enables you to edit, save and upload video files stored on the PS3 system to sites such as Facebook or YouTube.

Five Star Rating Support

Users can rate the PlayStation Store content they have purchased with one to five star ratings.

Power Save Settings

The default setting for PS3 System Auto-Off will be set at 2 hours, providing you with additional power save options and further improving power save features on the PS3 system.

Hopefully you are not in "Canada", here in my neck of the woods we got this instead:

Sony's celebrating Canada Day with the launch of the PS3 Video Store (only now?) in that region. Too bad Canadians won't be celebrating because it's apparently full of problems.

Shack News is reporting that the new store has launched with "a slew of crippling bugs", with links to content that just isn't there and download errors.

We expect Sony to jump on these issues, should they prove to be widespread, pretty promptly. Sit tight, our Canadian friends.

nope i am in Iraq .but i have heard it doesnot work in India too i mean PSN .i am not sure if its true or not .

Looks like Sony and Microsoft started to copy each other. Everybody said before that pay-service from microsoft is better , so sony also decided to create pay-version.
Also microsoft copied sonies glossy design in xbox360 slim.
If everything will go that way further, then we will have one device with common name
"Xbox360Playstation3".
Acctually I am not too concerned about that because I have the best console of all time-
PlayStation2.
