PS3 Slim Blu-Ray Drive Dumped!
Modrobert is reporting on his site http://EurAsia.nu that the Slim Blu-Ray drive firmware has been successfully dumped by the Calimba/HadesTeam over at DemonHades.org using their custom-built SATA flat ribbon cable that the PS3 Slim drive happens to use, which the older PHAT models didn't use.
Also the Slim PS3 drive has all it's firmware stored in small 8pin flash chip, which has been proven in the past to contain the "drive key" also, as just swapping this chip between Slim PS3 boards, allows the "swapped" drive to read Blu-Ray discs fine. -- Whereas before on the PHAT models, the firmware was stored in much larger 48pin BGA flash chip which was much harder to swap.
The final claim by the Calimba/HadesTeam that they know already how to de-crypt the firmware they dumped.
