PS3 sales up 300%, expect shortage –
This news complements the numbers that came out yesterday, showing Sony's PS3 Slim selling a million units in the mere three weeks it's been out. Jack Tretton, SCEA's Chief Exec, revealed that they are now "up about 300 percent over" where they were before the price drop, in terms of PS3 sales.
Of course, it wasn't only the introduction of the PS3 Slim to the market that provided a major boost to the brand, it was also largely in part to the US$ 100 price cut. But will they be able to sustain this momentum, especially with the nearing holiday rush?
"In a very difficult economy, I couldn't be more optimistic about our fortunes for the rest of the year and for the future," he said. He did concede too, however, that "If things continue at this pace, it is conceivable that there will be product shortages."
We're fully expecting that, actually.
muwahaha playstation always takes a few years to get off the ground then once they do its cha ching!
damnit. now that I have my xbox where I want it, it's old hat and time to get a ps3. figures.
lol yep i know right and just in time for christmas haha!
im happy my ps3 is working again i just cleaned the fan with a toothbrush without taking the motherboard and all that other crap out what a pain it was lol.
We will see what happens now that come Sunday morning the Wii will be only $199, and the fact for some strange reason in most countries except USA, the X360 has gone UP in price (here in Canada) it is $229 for the Arcade and $329 for the Elite.
But the Wii has already been the #2 selling Gaming unit (with #1 being the DS!), and now with a pricecut coming for it, the first one since its launch I will think it will still clean-up the Xmas season.
it's just sad that the stripped down version sells so much better just because it's cheaper :/
