GameStop and EB Games started (and finished) taking pre-orders for the PS3 today... Tuesday, October 10th. The chain's 3,600 stores has sold out of every single one of their PS3 pre-orders by mid-afternoon. According to a store representitive, each store had at least eight PS3's for preorder, with some getting as many as 16. Only two units per a store could be sold to employees but, according to numerous reports, some stores only allowed as low as 2 or 3 pre-orders. Something fishy was definately going on.
A GameStop source also claimed that the nearby Best Buy was only getting two and that GameStop and EB were getting "75 to 80 percent of the Playstation 3s." That does not bode well for gamers who plan on spending cold nights waiting in line for a chance to nab a PlayStation 3 before next Spring.
