PS3 Firmware Update & The unpacker!

Earlier today PS3 Firmware version 1.10 was released to the US and Japan. Comparisons show the two firmwares to be identical. Also released was the unpacker tool from our very own team PS2Dev. Yes, we are kicking off the PS3 scene with a bang! Here's hoping you "dev" guys out there can have some fun with this.

Maybe this is Sony's indirect attempt to exploit the dev community... by releasing the tools for coders/hackers to find possible problems w/ the current firmware(incompatible stuff like ps2 guitar controller) and report them to forums like this for the Sony engineers to study :P

you guys are jumping the gun a bit here... The unpacker only splits up the PUP file into the individual files contained in it. It does de/encrypt anything. This tool is only a starting point.

I have nothing but respect for [RO]man, my point is that this tool isn't some Holy Grail that's going to bust open the PS3 in the next few days.
