PS3 Firmware 3.41 causing HDD problems
The latest PlayStation 3 firmware upgrade is reportedly causing issues for users attempting to upgrade their hard drive.
PS3 users have informed CVG that they are also having difficulty updating their system to firmware 3.41, and are also experiencing system crashes.
The few that have managed to install a new HDD are greeted with an error stating that 'no applicable data' can be found.
The latest firmware was initially thought to contain just a "You May Like" section, however we later learned that the firmware may have introduced a new patching system.

PS3 slim 120 GB on Firmware 3.41, Hard Disk replacement problems:
I thought i was f**ked, i screwed up my GAMES folder with the Blackbox FTP program (i moved the folder and suddenly it was not accessible anymore and after a reboot it was gone!).
I was mad and wanna to start fresh, so instead of restoring my system to default and formatting the drive from within the PS3, i pulled the drive out and reformatted it on my pc.
Put the drive back in, usb stick with FW3.41 on hand, and guess what?... No way i could get this PS3 Slim with 3.41 system to run
Solution:
I also have a Fat with 3.41. So i popped the HD in the FAT, it immediately wants to format the drive, did that and a couple of minutes later the FAT PS3 was ready to go with the SLIM drive
But that's not what i wanted, i wanted that SLIM to run again with FW 3.41
So i removed that drive from the FAT PS3 and popped it in the SLIM. And to my surprise it worked! The drive was reformatted, the system rebooted and FW 3.41 was installed
Now i'm up and running again with my slim 3.41, copying all that data again to it
So in short, you're on a 120GB Slim with 3.41 and you want to replace the HD with a bigger one, the easiest way is to reformat it on a fat PS3, and after that put it in the Slim, it should work
