PS3 Camping Begins

Well, in California anyways. Posters over at NeoGAF report that these guys don't actually want the PS3 but are actually looking to score some $$$ on Ebay. They are taking "shifts" waiting in line FOR NINE DAYS!!! I guess it beats having a "real" job.

I would be highly surprised if they even get 1 each. With the online preorders and the in store preorders I highly doubt they will score too many consoles. Plus the rumors flying around about how Best Buy is only getting half of the consoles they should be getting. Who knows, just glad I got my preorder from toys r us back in late Oct.

They will be doing online preorders but who knows how many consoles each best buy will get. I'm guessing less then 10 each as most TRU and EB/Gamestop are getting less then that.

I think retailers who are not taking preorders should do raffles instead (everyone shows up for a specific hour and gets 1 ticket), that way everyone will have a fair chance on getting one. I gurantee 99% of the peope in lines right now are just going to sell it.

I think it is best buy thats giving away 100 PS3 consoles on the 16th as some kind of promotion. Pretty crazy stuff!!

EDIT: Its actually Circuit City thats doing this. And its no promotion, they will be selling 100 (each store I think and their are only six stores).

The six Circuit City stores are:
* Union Square store no. 3679, Union Square, New York, NY
* Torrance store no. 404, Hawthourne, Los Angeles, CA
* Cherry Hill store no. 0734, Mount Laurel, Philadelphia, NJ
* Schaumburg store no. 3111, Schaumburg, Chicago, IL
* Rockville store no. 866, Rockville, Washington, MD
* Short Pump store no. 3549, Richmond, Richmond, VA

That explains why all my local Best Buy's are getting 30-60 PS3 consoles and Circuit City is only getting 4.

OF COURSE, it beats having a real job. I never understood the thrill of being the first to own a system. But I guess it's the same as being the first to see a movie. Remember when the last installment of Star Wars came out? (I never liked Star Wars BTW).
