PS2SDK 1.2 & PS2Lua –
01-01-2005,07:12 PM
Pixel over at ps2dev.org has announced the release of ps2sdk 1.2 development library for the ps2. There is not much of a changelog in a way as there is a tagline: "more libc compatibility, which includes more stability, solidity, and easiness of portability when working with cross platform softwares"
Pixel has also release PS2Lua, a port of the ever popular lua language. This definetely opens alot of doors for the ps2dev community.
You can get all of the info and downloads at http://www.ps2dev.org
thanks to pixel for the news.

Huh, I took the liberty of editing your post to change your "1.5" to "1.2" (I still have the rights from that previous post)
Hope you don't mind

Pixel: You forgot to change the title.

Huh, I did. Look, the title isn't the same when you look at the front page and when you look at the thread. Seems there's a bug or something...

THANK YOU PIXEL! I've been dying for either LUA or Python on PS2 :-)

Yatta! Seems I've found someone to test my package

I don't know about testing yet. I've never used Lua, just read about it. And until my desktop is running again and I can get access to my Lua docs on it, I don't want to get started on it. And if I can manage to stop messing with these emulators.

Huh... murphy's law, hum.
Well, I happened to discover a bug in the current ps2sdk's realloc, which was hitting some of the lua's internals. Incidently, I also found some coding mistakes in the lua core (mistakes from the developpers) which was causing some misalignments.
So, huh, the ps2-lua package on ps2dev.org is updated, and now comes with some small test things, which show how lua works for ps2, but that will only work safely with the ps2sdk from CVS (I haven't updated the ps2sdk-1.2 binary release... since other bugs might come out, I think it's better a good idea to still wait a bit before releasing, say, 1.2.1)
