The "Ownz" utility is not really of much use, it only allows you to install the games that support the HDD into a non-Sony HDD, and you have to patch the ATAD.IRX of each game and re-burn them in order to get them to work.

I've heard some people over at ps2ownz claim that they have managed to crack some ps2 utility disc wich now allows them to format any hdd to ps2 partition type. The new sony hdd will have a media player pre-installed.I don't suppose that it will come with a installation disc, so I'm wondering is it possible to somehow extract the player from sony hdd and put it on generic hdd that is formated to ps2 partition type.I don't have broadband so online play is out of the question for me,just like downloadable stuff, but I would realy like to be able to put a hdd in my ps2 and put mp3-s and pictures on it.
P.S.Any info on file types supported by the player?
