ah let them post whatever the hell they feel like it. Its true the same ones that nag and complain are generally the ones that break the rules. Just go to the other site if you dont like it. Just remember, its HDAdvance!
Alot of you need to check your ****ing attitudes..
Wow. It seems so harsh to close down the forum. Yeah, sure, there were a lot of stupid posts and requests for HDL or patches and redundant crap... The "signal-to-noise" ratio really got terrible in the last week. Especially amongst the posts that were most useful (ie. the HDL-Patch threads)... so many people asking for detailed tutorials rather than just do it like the rest of us - by trial and error...
But it seems to me that it would be so much better to at least make it "moderator/membership only" - at least so we can all stay updated on whatever Zero-X, crazyc, Kevo, etc., etc., are doing with their patches...
Ideally, it would be nice to leave it the way it was and add more moderators specifically to that forum... and allow them to have dictatorial power to ban IPs, users, whatever from posting again if they post stupid questions... but that's too much.
I'm a bit disappointed in this because the HDD and HDL are the most exciting part of homebrew and development... it's still got so much potentional. Well, perhaps this part of the scene will just have to move to another forum... :(
some of the things in the hdd forum that irk'd me was the fact that people would always be like "oh yea I need to know if this game I'm downloading from so and so works with hdl, and can you post a patched hdl elf for me?" ... come on people ... common sense tells that thats 100% piracy and isn't hard to spot ... get a brain ... I personally love the hdd forum as I'm sure you all do, great information and many many people working their @$$e$ off to lend a helping hand ... I hope it reopens soon ...
why punish the majority for the acts of the minority? if policing the forums is too tough get some more moderators...
that forum section has had two diferent sets of moderators. both failed to be effective in their positions.
This should be interesting. May just force users to actually use the search function now since they can't post anymore lame posts. I hardly ever post here as there isn't a need to as my question is always answered by someone else (since i don't go experimenting with new things rite away).
One thing though is that the developers should get the chance to post up their newest additions to the scene. Only problem then is getting feedback for them so that they can further develop their stuff.
maybe it'll be reopened when someone would be up to moderate it constanly
