Just wanted to make clear that the "PS Jailbreak" won't be compatible with firmware 3.42 from the beginning, since it's been produced before SONY's firmware update.
I don't know if it will be possibile to update the internal software in the future, most likely, yes.
I should get the first shipment today or tomorrow. Will surely take some pictures!

I'm not sure the "people wanting a plug and play solution" is such a great argument for the product really.
Aren't those people who aren't au fait with home solutions likely to be the people who will not know about the jailbreak yet, and will have probably blindly updated to 3.42?

Yes is true, but people pay more money for the "real" thing at the same. One thing is the real manufacturer ( in this case the creatores ) other thing is the guys that only clone the product and use cheaper components.
At the moment there is no "clone" products available, only schematics on the internet. People doesn't want to buy boards over the ebay and try to create their own dongle.
People desire an Plug and Play product ready to use with a simple user guide.
So PSJB have a lot of market yet, and if the shipment arrives as already said resellers will not loose money.
And now that Sony launch the v3.42, lets see if is the clone guys that will be able to patch it to work on the new version or will be PSJB Team.
yeah... thats why all the available board that were compatible with ps groove were out of stock mere hours after the release of the code...
you sure knows what you are talking about... oh wait... you paid for a psjailbreak.... now i understand

All resellers and PSJB site have a clear advice of only works with v3.41 since the begin (even before the 3.42) and on the FAQ list is refered you should not update in future.
So like I said people want a plug and play device with user guide, and if user guide says do not upgrade, only the guys that doesn't read the user guide will have that problem.
Remember PS3 is a gaming console. You have kids from 8-15 with PS3. They doesn't want an weird plan and buy PIC XYZ and then build their own chip.
That's why market demands an plug and play device.
The same reason Windows sells a lot and few people have Linux. Windows OS is just plug and play.

You don't need to build your own chip lol. The installation of PS Groove takes less than 2 minutes for ANY board.

ofc they were out of stock, they were develop kits and they are not a lot of units in stock.
How many people you think already made is own chip? 100? 200? Maybe less?
Like was said here before about 20 resellers made their request for 250 or 500 PSJB dongles.
We are talking about more than 5000 units and I guess they will sell out all their stock real fast.
Like I said already before you can build your own car, but people prefer to buy it already finished even if is more expensive.
Hours of work means money too for some people. They already have their work, they doesn't desire to have extra work to build things, they buy things already finished and with support.

I take less than 2 minutes to configure a router. Tell my mother to configure a router and you will see how many time she will need.
I guess will not be 2 minutes. But PS Groove is open project for developers or and end user finished device?

I totally agree with you about supporting the real PSJB team..But now they lost all the momentum because of the delay and clone,DIY solution..IF they kept their original shipment date everything will go smoothly and PSJB can lead the market..Now everything seems to turn them out.I hope they'll be able to overcome 3.42,if they do and they manage to protect it,than the ball is back to PSJB team..
If they are smart enough, they redo their dongle so that it will actually serve as a dongle after the PS3 entered the debug mode. The dongle will then act as a protection for the new backup manager.
The mistake PS Jailbreak team did was to not protect their backup manager. Because the communication between their dongle and the PS3 could be sniffed and because it was static, all PS Groove and alikes do is to actually read and write exactly the same Byte sequences as PS Jailbreak.
If the PS Jailbreak team know how to circumvent FW updates and if they do a better backup manager (i.e. compatible with more games, better support for external harddisks, stealth mode, unsigning of games so that they can be "shared" (ilegal!), etc.), then yes, they have a sellable product and no, it is not THAT easy to crack a dongle security system for a not well known hardware plattform.
