I'm not mad, just aggravated. I never thought a jailbreak for the PS3 was possible, but then when I Heard the news I got excited..I have been glued to this site ever since LOL. We will see what happens with the jailbreak next week. I just want to get my hands on it..Id prefer it be cheaper of course but we will just wait and see
As far as I can tell they didn't really string anyone along. From the beginning the shipping date to resellers was always around Aug 27th. Then two days ago they said it might be 3 to 5 more days. One delay from an original date is not exactly stringing people along especially considering it was a Pre-Order. After a month or more of delays then I could see your point.
#1 they should have already had them made and ready to ship to resellers
then all this crap would have been much quieter.
I foresee $ony going after Canada also, but then again who knows, I am just sick and tired of all the crap, I WANT IT KNOW !!!!!! (The kid in me)
as far as clones go, I can easy make the PCB, we already have the component list and PCB layout, yes, they got the boards made, all they need to do is get the main IC, program and test. So basically they have nothing but a ready to go board until they can actually get it working, smart move in my book.
Just showing off some boards and covers means nothing, the proof is in sending to a respected site that can legitimately say it's real.
I am not flaming them or anyone, just stating facts here
Exactly..if they have it, sell it, if they don't..stop messing around with people. Sometimes I wish I had never heard of this jailbreak. I never thought the PS3 would be jailbroken, but when I saw the psjailbreak I wanted it. They should have already started selling it, then it would have been too late for Sony to have done anything about it. Now all the hype, everyone wants it, I really dont care who sells it..whoever sells it first wins, I will get it from them
same here, after finding out that it was an exploit insted of a copy of the service JIG
il just wate for some thing cheeper to come along. they did cause a huge stur on the net with this device, masive trafic for all the sites involved. could that have been the plan all along who knows. now the device has been reversed its just a case of waiting.
In fact we have not 'found out' anything of the kind for certain.
All we have is a hearsay report from one single site where they claim to have this insight, without clearly describing the technical details (I'm talking about genuine schematics and microcontroller program listings, or at least detailed technical logs of the captured traffic).
But if it really is the way they describe, with the basic implementation acting like a USB hub with dynamically changing connected virtual USB devices, then others too should have presented similar results. It can not be all THAT hard to indicate the presence of a USB hub on a USB bus, now can it ?
And yet no one else has chimed in to confirm this USB hub behaviour of the device...
To me this is just one more instance of hearsay speculation, which I will ignore until real FACTS are presented, which can be confirmed by others. Not just generic unconfirmed claims.
Note that I'm not saying that any of those guys are lying.
I'm just saying that the presented material is not sufficient to be accepted as fact.
I need a lot more than that to sway me. And the most significant factor would be if independent sources of known integrity agreed on the claims, which has not yet happened for ANY of the major claims made (except the one that the device is not just a USB storage device, which is confirmed.)

This is true but I find the GameFreax info credible. You would need a fully software programmable usb interface to emulate a usb hub with several devices connected and the only (that I know of) microcontroller with a freely available software controlled usb interface library is AVR.
I have no argument with the feasibility of it, and that AVR stuff does look interesting.
But it is still very surprising that not one other person of those who received test samples has stepped forward to confirm that particular finding, that the hardware identifies itself to a USB bus as being a hub.
That should have been revealed in any of the analysis attempts made by those realizing it is not just a USB storage device. After determining that fact the very next step should be to determine exactly how it interacts with the USB bus, and how it then identifies itself.
Best regards: dlanor
