if we start offering cash for everything thatll slowly become the norm
then youll have devs only working for cash or selling everything they work on

personally, i don't have any issues donating hardware, software or even money to a dev that helps out the scenes.

i've done it many times over the years, devs definitely deserve some appreciation for their time. i guess you could say i've personally helped the open pandora handheld team, i've given them money for a unit and given money to the dev teams.

Question: does downgrading firmware reinstall the other o.s Linux feature, say on a new ps3 japan slim model, or is the option coming some other way, like "ASBESTOS" what is going on with that project any way? I am very interested in getting Linux on the slims and downgrading firmware on the slim to 3.15 or any F.W that works with the modification. I own a fat F.W 3.15, although it is under repair and the same model is now 600 to 700 dollars any where I look, so a slim model may be my only choice. If anyone reading this knows of a place that paints ps3 Fat consoles a ceramic white "like the Japanese version" post it and let me know. If all else fails, with ASBESTOS on the slim and a open source firmware downgrade, the slims might not be so bad. I'll take my 500 GB HDD from my worn down over heated fat and place it in a new slim, but only when both ASBESTOS and F.W downgrading are possible on the slims. I have not lost hope for my Fat though, I was reading something online about installing an extra inter-cooler in the Fat models which keeps the motherboard and processor cool, thus prolonging the fat systems life span. Once again, if any one has any info on any of these things, post it and let everyone know. The slims are longer lasting as they do not over heat like the fats, do to the mother board and processor. So, if all the good stuff from the phat were put onto the slim, well that would truly be awesome. I hate to repeat myself, but does anyone know of a good place that will install an extra inter-cooler and a ceramic white paint job on my fat? I am desperately trying to avoid the slim model as my fat system has the second most rare bar code. 4 usb ports and S.D card inputs. Please help?

Slims didn't show OtherOS on the same firmwares whereas the Fats did. So to see if this works or not one would have to downgrade to the version of PS3 from before the Slims started shipping (Sep 09).

I'm sure if fat PS3s will 100% get Linux back if downgraded.

Lets downgrade the slims and get Linux back with the slims! Get the hypervisor running Linux at Godspeed 3D EMU-full Linux virsion,not baby version, plus put 3D emulation directly on the XMB, PS1, PS2 whatever...back up games and blu-rays. Won't be an issue as far as playing ps2 games on a slim! I wish I knew how to do it, if not for the 500 buck then for the psxscene! We are so close to total success, ahh man.

Has any one tried to downgrade the F.W of a slim to pre- sep 09? Using the psjailbreak firmware downgrade? If so, any success? We need this for the slim, ASBESTOS or Downgraded F.W for the slim. Then the last step for the slim to have all that the fat had and more, is to get Linux access , Full access to the hypervisor.

if i would know i dont think that linux would be back on a slim because thats a hardware thing w slims and firmware just dont think it could happen what it would just pop up because of 3.15 i dont think so os came out before 3.15 better off getting the first fw
