Finally Sony has picked the name for their new Motion Controller. Dropping the previous codename "Arc" and going for the name "MOVE". It will also come with an "sub-controller" which looks much like a Wii Nunchuk.

You will also need to own the EyeToy to make use of the MOVE, and Sony promises to you will be able purchase the new controller without the EyeToy, for those that already own it, and also that a complete bundle with EyeToy, MOVE, Sample Game will be packaged for under $100 this up coming Fall season.

Sony is calling their new controller which was showcased with some new games at this week's 2010 Games Developer Conference as "A more precise, immersive, and responsive game experience", and they plan on hitting it hard on the ad budget to kill any possible marketshare which might be taken up by the new Microsoft Natal project, and to put a dent into Nintendo's Money Printing Machines.

For more in-depth of the Move, you can watch the 45-minute GDC demo:
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="480" height="386" id="utv988249" name="utv_n_762542"><param name="flashvars" value="loc=%2F&amp;autoplay=false&amp;vid=5344514" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/video/5344514" /><embed flashvars="loc=%2F&amp;autoplay=false&amp;vid=5344 514" width="480" height="386" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" id="utv988249" name="utv_n_762542" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/video/5344514" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object>

I don't know. -- After watching that full 45 minute demo. -- It make me sick, and the errors and trouble the demo people had in some areas to control the Move does not make much sense. -- I going to continue to fully enjoy my Wii as it is, and enjoy sitting down and playing "Heavy Rain" the old-fashion way with a six-axis controller. -- I don't think I going to waste $100 on this device for my PS3? -- Oh'well Sony is trying. -- Next-up is M$ with their demos of Natal. -- Ugh!

idk, I like it. I'll prbobly get one, I think they have the wiimote beat, really its its as good at it appears in the demo (questionable) its pretty much what the wiimore would be if it actually worked properly.

there is one good thing about it - sony learned from wii mistakes. people most likely broke a lot of tv's with their wiimotes, before the "leash" was added to the controller.

no matter how sony stretches its marketing muscles, people will always think "wii" when seeing this controller. that's something they cannot possible hope to overtake, and i think it's way too late to try to change reality.

This writer review blog has some good points in it of why it is better then a Wii remote: http://kotaku.com/5490574/how-the-pl...t-a-wii-remote

The ball at the end of Playstation Move, auto-changes color to a color which is NOT in your background wall, the EyeToy looks at the background around you and what you are wearing and PICKs a color for for the Move Sphere that is NOT in the background so that way it can easy pick-up the movements of the remote.

Lets just hope noone has rainbow suits, or rainbow colored walls. -- I also see problems with the idea, if you have your PS3 in a room, with a busy area behind you, like every changing background, with lots of moving people, or in my case, a large window with cars and traffic as my PS3 is in my front area of the my little shop on a busy street.

Here is one of the first promos by Sony for the new Move controller:

    <object id="viddler" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="437" height="265" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="flashvars" value="fake=1" /><param name="src" value="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/15e79e42" /><param name="name" value="viddler" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed id="viddler" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="437" height="265" src="http://www.viddler.com/simple_on_site/15e79e42" name="viddler" flashvars="fake=1" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object>

I been thinking..... --- I think I know how to build my own Move Controller! -- Here is my short-quick-version of my project idea:

"The MOVE is a fancy FLASHLIGHT! -- You are aiming the LIGHTBLUB at a Camera which is looking at you, the crappy webcam called a EyeToy -- All Move is flashlight with buttons on it, and blub that changes color to a color that the camera does not see in the background. -- You can make a Move yourself, just take a laser pointer or a bright led flashlight, and add a defuss lens (the sphere) on it, tape it to the bottom of your six-axis controller so you will have full movement and buttons to control the game, and pick up a EyeToy from pawnshop or used video game store for $10 and bang you are all set!"

What you think? -- I already own 2 of those crappy EyeToy's and I have a kiosk PS3 here, so I can download some of those pre-sale Move demo's. -- I going to see if I can find a nice bright LED flashlight, and try out my idea!

the diaper was added later the leash but included with the wii on launch day, just a lot of people choose not to use it

This could have been a good idea...if nintendo hadnt thought of it first. Rather than ripping off the wiimote, sony should have focused on something else(dunno what exactly). It doesn't matter if it works better than the wii mote, people are still going to see it as a wiimote. I wonder how this will work with first person shooters, probably you'd have to aim the thing at the screen to aim, which can get very tiring after a while. the design looks weird, and that plastic ball at the top, looks like it could break or fall off if the thing gets dropped.
V7 ps2, flip top, 2x 8MB sony memcards, FMCB 1.8b, ESR r9b, Cogswap, Hdloader0.8c, 250 gig Western Digital, poorly modded(but functional) network adapter
