The largest capacity PlayStation 3 system is available starting 03 November 2009 with the 250GB PlayStation 3. The new PS3 has the same "Slim" form factor as the recently released 120GB PS3. The 250GB PlayStation 3 is available for $349.99 from retailers such as Amazon.com. That's only $50 more than the $299.99 120GB PS3, and more than double the capacity.

You can swap out the internal 2.5" harddrives for both systems, but if you're getting a new PlayStation 3, you should go for the 250GB, as you'll find your harddrive filling fast with games and digital content. Look for the gray box for the 250GB PlayStation 3, available from retailers starting tomorrow.

ALDI, MediaMarkt, Saturn and Amazon do their price-fight again here.

    ALDI has a 120GB-PS3 with a second DS3 + WipeOut HD + 3year warranty for 299€ here.

    MediaMarkt announced a 120GB-Slim for 239€ here.

Saturn (Saturn and MediaMarkt is one company in reality) announced the same package here. I used my city as shop-id.
www.saturn.de If you choose the "saturn-markt" and one of those listed cities, itīll bring it up on the main-page.

...and here on Amazon... --> Klick here.

All prices already include taxes (19% in Germany).

that's dirty for one company who owns two different shops to set up a price war knowing that customers will think that it's two different & independent entities.

Yeah, I was kind of shocked when I heard it for the first time.
But it are two families, afaik.

Not sure. I thought the firm/company was "Metro Holding", or similar.

Anyway,... I only mentioned it, because the same markets had a price-battle last year, where Sonys official price for the PS2-Slim still was 150€, or so.
They (ALDI, Amazon, Metro-Holding) dropped the price down to ~60-70€ (before Sony dropped the price to 100€).
To be exact,... The customer mustnīt care in this case, since they only "need to be" happy (about the "price-wars").

We have the same thing here in Canada. It is called Future Shop and Best Buy, both owned by the same company, and both have different types of sales, sometimes one or the other depending on their mode for the week.

I would call it Lobbyism, simply.

Btw.: I did a mistake. ALDI offers a 2year warranty.

    Edit: O.k. ALDI now offers a PS3-120GB-Slim with 2games, 2DS3-Controller and 2years warranty for 299€ (including taxes).

well, here in the states CompUSA closed down all of their stores in my area and then "Circuit City" went bankrupt and shutdown permanently throughout the country.

and now we just have Best Buy and Fry's in-store (frys.com) and fry's is very good.

from a business perspective, i can understand that owning two stores and creating price battles in between them while fooling people could bring in more income. i would just wait for price drops to occur.
