    but i wonder will we see a bunch of people try to located old 103/A03 burners now since its more or less equal to the 104/A04 with this latest firmware.

    yes it would, i dont have any blank dvd's at the moment but my comp says the 104 will now burn cds at 12x where as it would only buren at 8x before, hmmmmmmmmm, maybe 4x DVD's

    Q. Will the new Firmware update allow my DVR-A03/103 or DVR-A04/104 to record to the new high speed DVD-R media at 4X ?

    A. No, the new firmware update does not enable recording beyond the specified maximum of these drives (i.e., 2X).

    so there's a change in CD-R writing speed but not DVD-R writing speed. hmm, still can't complain at the little bit quicker CD-R writing increase.

    I see 3x on DVD-R, but I didn't try that.

    It was with The Document of MGS2 in ISO under Nero 5.5.9.9 and using 2x for all.
