I did not know that mods are ilegal in Australia.. you can find ads like this in any news paper

I knew they were Illegal, but cekin is correct, in almost all papers you will find modchips and installers for Xbox and PS2 in oz, and backups for around $20 each or some sort of price break, say 6 for $100. Most mind you, use a mobile number or are online stores, but it's not that hard too track down a mobile.

ouch tbh i think it's a bad idea yeah aus has won the right to use modchips but not sell them.

I think this is not a good time to start a fight against Sony, after all we'd all like ps3Linux too to occur, right?

March 31, 2005 is their date for release of PS3 in Japan I heard.

what? i dont even know where some of you get these completely idiotic notions. fighting sony will stop ps3linux??? ps2linux was a complete failure and discontinued. the ps3 will have a custom architecture. There won't be anything beyond official sony stuff working on that console for quite a long time.

Modchip actually helped PS2 sales. Most of the $ony refurbished consoles have been sold to asian countries and then modded by the resellers there. $ony knows the fact but won't care about it when large amount of sales involved.
