all for the money. im thinking about putting linux back on my ps3 though i used to use it back then in the day figure i might as well do it again.

during what update did they remove the other os i was never aware of that but it could be cause i never got on the ps3 news sites and well i rarely updated my ps3 my ex usually updated for me

I think update 3.21 is when the OtherOS was removed.

...soooo, in other words, to "circumvent" their own TOS, they lied and said it was a "security issue" in order to remove OtherOS, so they could protect their pockets?

They admit, they took OtherOS way to protect their "intellectual property" because they were losing out on money as far as the value of the PS3. Then openly admit that people were blindly given a choice...keep OtherOS and lose PSN function or keep PSN function and lose OtherOS (which most of us already knew). Then admit that they found out there was a back-door that allowed putting OtherOS back onto the system, so they released another update to remove all that completely...AGAIN!

WTF!! LMFAO!!!

Please please please, someone bust the hell out of Sony for that!!

I'm curious where's the original information? Not the site it was found on, but like the documents from the courts providing this evidence?

OtherOS was removed because geohot claimed he found an exploit in OtherOS to do things that weren't supposed to, thats why Sony removed that functionality.

Nobody cares for a ****** Linux port on the PS3, if you really wanted OtherOS then you wouldve stayed on 3.15, there was no need to hack the PS3 to bring back OtherOS since you had 2 options: update and lose Linux, or stay and keep Linux. The same is happening now, update and lose or stay and keep. So where does all this hypocrism come from?

Only like 5% of the people around here actually care for Linux, the rest acts like they care for Linux but only use it to justify their piracy.

Actually the US Military loved OtherOS because it saved money for the Govt, and was an awesome clustering server and how is linux justifying piracy? Linux users arent pirates. i dont know if you realize linux is freeware. Open source. by the way sony has been caught violating GPL/GNU licenses already
