nXMB: Patch Dev Flash for PS1/PS2 Games in PS3 JailBreak Mode

You have might not have noticed, but people with older PS3 consoles that normally can play PS1/PS2 games when in "JailBroken" mode can't play their original PS1/PS2 games.

Well lucky for us along comes a forum member over at PS3NEWS.com to save the day, and produce a APP that patchs your dev_flash so you can reboot into a mode that allows the usage of these games on your backwards-compatible PS3 while in "Jailbroken" mode!

Today, I share with everyone what I call nXMB, it allows you to patch Dev_Flash for PS1 games and PS2 games if your PS3 is backwards-compatible (has 4 USB ports) in PS3 JailBreak Mode!

What is nXMB?

nXMB is a tool that patches your dev_flash to play PS1 Games (PS2 games also work if you have a bc-console) in JB Mode.

How to use nXMB? And What are its requirements?

Requirements:

• PS3 that is JailBroken
• DEV_FLASH from your PS3
• JaiCraB's Firm Loader v0.3

Step 1: Connect via FTP and get your dev_flash
Step 2: Move your dev_flash and the nXMB into a new folder (NOT THE CONTENTS, BUT THE DEV_FLASH ITSELF).
Step 3: Open nXMB and let it patch your dev_flash
Step 4: Copy the contents of that dev_flash to your USB Flash Disk
Step 5: Launch USB Firm Loader

The PS3 will mount your USB flash disk as dev_flash

You will NOT see "Install Package Files" but instead of that you will be able to boot PS1/PS2 games and you will have access to your memory cards!

Unfortunately, your interpretation is wrong.

In the past people could not play PS1 or PS2 games (Depending if their model supports it) in JB mode.

Now they can it doesn't give new functionality it just restores functionality that was lost in jB mode. Thats really all it does.

Nothing new and PS2 mode kills the exploit unfortunately;

id stay away from this for a bit! where did this popup from? not heard of it being dev'd anywhere...

all im sayin is be careful this could be the anti jailbreaker from sony :P if you wanna play ps1 or ps2 games use your pc... ps3 is designed for ps3 why every1 always wanna play older stuff on em?

If this or something else lets me play my old PS2 backup games then I'd be all about it. Does this still only work for retail ones I assume?

This application is pointless at the moment, why would you want to dump your dev put it on usb stick then patch it then run your emulated firmware all to run some ps1/ps2 games while you can just restart your ps3.

I'm seriously hoping this might be the start of ignoring the region coding on the PS3 with regards to PS2/PSX games.

I've a chipped UK PS2, so I've got a mix of UK and USA games. Would love to be able to play my UK PSX and PS2 games on the PS3. One less box to setup under my TV!

Just to note out:
All PS3 models are backwards-compatible to PSX games.
