New PS3 3.56 Exploit Found

Well-known hacker Mathieu Hervais has reportedly found a bug that allows exploiting metldr, the bootloader and firmware version 3.56. Unfortunately, he refuses to release it.

Interestingly, it was recently rumored that Sony was soon going to be releasing new "unhackable" PS3 models to the market.

I hesitated a lot before tweeting about it, but a bug allows exploiting metldr, the bootloader and 3.56+. I don't intent to ever unveil it.

So much for "unhackable" ps3s though....

Although I regret the fact Sony got what they wanted, scare devs. away, I have to say Mathieu did the right thing, he can't just risk his life over a exploit.

im sorry, he may be a well known dev, and what not, but if hes that scared to release stuff, then maybe he should just keep his mouth shut, its going to get horrible with comments and crap towards him.

if he can find an exploit, im sure there are alot of other devs out there that will release something.
i never understood why sony is making a big deal about this. ps2 was hacked. nothing happened when psp was hacked.

i dont know, everything should be open source.

but i guess he just doesnt want to go away for life or whatever over a system that will be out dated soon enough..
