New Limited Edition Pearl White PS2 being released

For all you limited edition Japanese PS2 collectors, SCEI will be releasing a new "Pearl White" edition to the Japanese consumers on July 15th. Along with this new PS2, they will release similarly colored acessories, such as the Dual Shock 2 Controller and Vertical Stand.

The new model number for this limited edition will be SCPH-50000 PW, and by all accounts should be a V10 or possibly a newer revision. I guess we'll find out when it is released.

The new console's price will be 19,800 yen, the controller will be 2,800 yen, and the vertical stand is 1,500 yen. You can view images of all 3 here: http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/040701a.html

19,800 yen? That's pretty cheap, especially for a special edition console.

Yeah..they're still making a killing in Japan regardless. I think the last stats against Xbox in Japan is like 4-1 in favor of PS2. The only real competitor for the PS2 in Japan is the GC

That may be the case, but I sure wish that the ps2 was as moddable as the xbox. Everyone that has an xbox has to admit that a modded xbox is way better than a modded ps2, as far as what it can do.

Although the ps2 has way better software, which really defines a system.

Hahahahaha...if you oreally wanted to....you could gut the insides of it and replace it with a V9/V10 from here.

You can still get a limited edition from playstation.com. I just got one last week. Snow white. They still have red, white blue and yellow left. Only $199. I couldn't beleive there were still some left. Only 600+ of each color were made. They were released 2 years ago, and still haven't sold out. That's probably why they haven't released any new limited editions since.
