New Anti-Modchip Protection In PS2 Games?
New Anti-Modchip Protection In PS2 Games? –

Our friends at PS2NFO are reporting that the newly released "NRL Rugby League 2" contains some serious anti-modchip protection. There is currently no way to play a backup of the game AT ALL! In fact, even an original will not boot on a modded console!!! Could this be a sign of things to come?

aren't the guys at PS2NFO a bunch of losers? How are they our "friends"? Maybe more like acquaintances?

That shit is all in the past. They're more like distant cousins.

from what i understand that is not working with it either . there were anti mod games in the past so hopefully this is nothing new .
on a side note , glad to see the scene drama is dying down with certain people . hopefully some of the the more recent shit will be squashed also ...

I could care less about both groups and yes this is nothing new. The codebreaker had the same protection as i believe this has. Simply looking for a file thats commonly modified by mods. This is quite easy actually, always made me wonder why sony didnt add this to their own games. There are still parts of magic gate that people havnt cracked or dared to exploit. Adding something like this into a MG crypted ELF would have proved catastrophic for the scene.
I think X put the friends part there more to piss off Brakken who insists we have teamed up against him. I'm sure you will see this on the front page of his banz page any minute now with some big headline confirming his "suspicion"

sometimes the game developer and sony would have different views over the copy protection issues. sony does not want to see the game having problem with modded PS2's as it's against its interests. this game is strange indeed as the original copy freezes just before the developer's logo on the chipped PS2. i have tested on a v12 with marsPro 805 and all worked fine without the need of turnning off the chip. it seems not all the chips were targeted or it's just bugs in the game itself? very strange indeed.
