It seems the first person sent a summons under new amendments set in place after the M2/charlie_ps2 court battle has been put into motion. Mods and Sods owner Stephen Fitzgerald has been sent an official summons to appear in court just two days ago, accused of selling modchips for both ps2 and xbox and pirated copies of games. Still no word on further proceedings. He has also scanned and uploaded the original summons onto his page. You can view the scans Here

In my opinion, if it is true he sold pirated games, he deserves some legal action on him.

Dudes at my work sell DVDs and shit and i can't ****ing stand it. I want to stand up and give a good punch in the temple to knock them out... ****ers need to learn.
edit: holy shit kept reading... its illegal to possess swap magic discs? thats crazy... its just a damn disc... wow guess it would be the same thing as a mod chip but that sounds ****ed up...

That means the consoles and or the technology or services required to work around built in gaming consoles' protection measures.
Pirated games could mean Hard Drive Loader, HD Advance, Gameshark, Max Evo, Code breaker,.... It depends on how the UK law defines these CD/DVD's. I am not sure but I think that these programs are manufactured without Sony's approval, and all of them could be looked upon as circumvention devices from a certain perspective as they do things Sony did not intend them to do.
Me, I feel sorry for the poor guy who had a business and is now in real danger of losing it and other penalties. Even if he was selling copied games it is a lot of work running a company and he has on his webpage, "All warranties will be honoured!" Showing to me at least he is or intends to be a reputable businessman.

US Sony said on their forums that HDloader is an illegal product (and don't don't want any discussions on their forums). So I guess ... yes, HDLoader, USBAdvance/USBExtreme are all on the chopping block (atleast in the UK).
Scary stuff.
