So games that are in development now are mainly taking the library functions for 3.40 and below. You would have to redesign the game with new library functions exclusive to 3.41 and above if you want it truly want it unplayable.

They may compile the game with 3.50 SDK, but that only makes the eboot readable if you have 3.50 firmware. People easily found out how to find debug updates for the same game but with a 3.40 eboot (mainly because the game was only intended for 3.40).

Games take months if not sometimes years to finish. By the supporting premises (if we assume them to be true) then we can infer any game that comes out this year may be completely playable if we can find an eboot for the game for firmware 3.40.

Even games at 3.50 may work if you can find an eboot for the game that was designed to work for 3.40, but there may be one type of area that won't work because they depend on libraries in future firmwares.
Just because games don't use the new functions means nothing. They'll make games call for made up functions in newer firmwares, just for security reasons.

Like with PSP days, GTA LCS requiring 2.00. It didn't at first run on 1.50 PSPs (the 3.41 of the PSP (even though anyone who wanted to play could upgrade and downgrade back).

The reason was because GTALCS was calling for .prxs (like .dll in Windows) that only existed in 2.00, so the game wouldn't run on 1.50.

Even if they did this, would they re-develop a game that is being closed to finalized with these new functions or upon compiling a game the new SDK automatically converts them to equivalent functions unrecognizable to 3.41?

I still think that as long as we can find an eboot that will work for 3.41 then we can still load the game and play to an extent to where new functions are implemented in that case that would remain unplayable.

It's too bad we don't have a dump of 3.50. Someone needs to write a homebrew that re-directs the installation of a firmware over to an external source. I wonder if it would be possible to run 3.50 with a modified payload using a USB firmware loader.

< sarcasm > I think they also delayed Duke Nukem Forever to make sure they could implement more security measures on the ps3... < / sarcasm >

Get real, no publisher/developper is gonna delay a game by a full year only to make sure it only runs on future firmwares. You are giving yourselves WAY too much weight. Just like people thinking that the bugged to death Ubigame that has been recalled has been recalled to prevent piracy.
Stop seeing conspiracies everywhere. The game just isn't ready and they need more time to finish it, is it the first time it happens in the video game industry? No. Is this gonna be the last time? No.

Sadly I think GT5 will definitely have the newer calls There are rumours that the current delay is due to piracy.

Also for the record there is no way MGSR has been delayed due to the hack.

This is why I said "it's my PERSONAL opinion, I could be mistaken" people. Just because I have a view doesn't mean I'm stating it as a fact. Editorials while reporting is allowed as long as you state so. That's all I did, stated a fact and stated an opinion.

My opinion is that you're wrong

I'm just saying that a game that was still a long way from release and didn't really have a solid release date to begin with (2011, that was it), most probably didn't get delayed because of security.

I hope your not directing this post at me because no where I said that this game was being re-done because of piracy. Nor do I believe in conspiracies but I do not reject that conspiracies are wrong without solid proof. I am a mathematician (hence my name) not an ass hole.

This is very true. With less than 3 months after the "official" scene opened up, we already have true homebrews out there. So no matter what Sony, Konami or the rest of the industry does from now on to try to bring the scene down, the scene will find a way to stay alive.

I say official scene opening up because there were dongles out there last year that claimed to have backup manager availability, but since no test units were released, only videos, nobody believed them. It wasn't until OZMods got their hands on the PS3Jailbreak that it was confirmed.

BS. Good games take ages to develop. One year isn't much to iron out Move issues alone.
