Metal Gear Rising Delayed to 2011/2012

From this scener's perspective, it may also be a way to have the dev team redo the game so it forces PS3 owners to update to the newest firmware. But that's just my opinion, I could be mistaken.

Thread title and some of the detail in the post is wrong. It's been delayed to 2012. 2011 was the original timeframe.

They move MGR from 2011 to 2012 just to implement the new firmware...
In this time they could rewrite half of the game...
So i would call the piracy agrument nonsense.

Even Move implementation shouldnt cost them a year.

Oh well this should be an amazing game just like the rest of them. Some extra development time shouldn't hurt ether. I don't mind waiting for games like this at all.

There's no mention of anything to do with PS3 beyond baseless speculation, this game is also coming for 360.

The way I see it, 3.50 doesn't add any new library functions other than some 3d support. Something similar that 3.40 added library functions for move and other games. So games that are in development now are mainly taking the library functions for 3.40 and below. You would have to redesign the game with new library functions exclusive to 3.41 and above if you want it truly want it unplayable.

They may compile the game with 3.50 SDK, but that only makes the eboot readable if you have 3.50 firmware. People easily found out how to find debug updates for the same game but with a 3.40 eboot (mainly because the game was only intended for 3.40).

Games take months if not sometimes years to finish. By the supporting premises (if we assume them to be true) then we can infer any game that comes out this year may be completely playable if we can find an eboot for the game for firmware 3.40.

Even games at 3.50 may work if you can find an eboot for the game that was designed to work for 3.40, but there may be one type of area that won't work because they depend on libraries in future firmwares.
