The US custom version of Messiah 2 was only ever manufactured in v1.07 having been proven to include the v7.
However on http://www.mc-sales.biz and under new price list, it says USA v1.07 for $20 and does not support v7.

    Now I am confused.

I have to say that Aerick raises an unjustified spectre. As Guichi and other forum members who have been following this story know, I have freely and openly offered to send LOD a Messiah 2 v1.30 so that he can review same. I did this before Aerick's suggestion. http://www.ps2newz.net/forums/showth...0&pagenumber=2

The spectre Aerick raises about copied code has NEVER come from the Messiah team and NEVER from me. Nor have I read anyone saying that DMS3 is a rip of Messiah. Who has? Where is that claim? Who are these people saying that?

And why is Aerick implying that I am not telling the truth? It is one thing to say that an independent review should take place just to verify the camps' claims; I certainly respect that.

What I don't respect is the linkage clearly made by Aerick to the teams ripping each other's code and particularly his earlier suggestion, made in these forums, that the messiah Team would make an announcement but only release their chip after a delay giving them time to rip the DMS3 code.

Messiah 2 v1.30 is being produced and stocked for release on Wednesday next, 13-Mar-03. PS2Newz will then be sent their free sample.

And what will happen? Both chips will pass with flying colours (DVD-R on v8, that is). Big deal. Both camps told you that already, neither camp is accusing the other of ripping code and at least one review, of Messiah 2 v1.30 posted by the evil, biased, lying toad Charlie, has been published.

    Jeez, guys.

Well you've got my offer and you will get the chip. There is something of the dark about the spectre that was raised and I take strong offence to that.

If someone who benifited directly from the DMS3's success were the one giving the review, I'd also be very skeptical about that too.
I just wish to take up the NEO4 aspect of what Aerick has said.

Looking up past posts, Aerick has been fairly consistent in suggesting that Messiah ripped/stole NEO4 code. Let me put this piece of information forward.

The SCEx pulsing chips (NEO2, NEO4) fooled the PS2 by making it think that the PS2 game being booted was a PS1 game. SCEx is the signal needed for this purpose. Once the PS2 game disk had been accepted as not being invalid, the NEO4 then had to bend things round so as to recover the position that it was indeed a PS2 game and not a PS1 game.

Because the SCEx approach could only be applied to CD games (there were no PS1 DVD games), it followed that NEO4 could not direct-boot DVD-Rs; nor could Origa.

Messiah cracked that problem; its PS2 game boot strategy (as with Messiah 2) does not use SCEx. So Messiah 1/2 is fundamentally different from NEO4 and Origa.

The common factor between Messiah and Origa is the use of the CD/DVD bus which Origa discovered. I am not the Messiah developer so I wouldn't know the code. But the Messiah team would have had to do something radically different with the CD/DVD bus in order to boot DVD-R.

Now these are self evident facts. So it isn't right, in past threads, to have labelled the Messiah Team as absolute rip-off merchants; it is right, using Aerick's words, to "beat the dead "Messiah stole Neo4 and Origa code" horse to pieces".

Well I sent it - $40 Fedex to LOD - arrives 10:30 tomorrow. Only to find that the Forum's v8 has gone to the DMS3 team!

Ah well - life's a bitch as Dust says. It would have been nice to have had my tests confirmed in an independent review. Even nicer if I could have been spared the Fedex costs.

No worries - Guichi's news about leaving the forum way overshadows anything else I have to say on the Messiah 2.
